Working closely with our international customers, NKT develops, manufactures and installs efficient, environmentally friendly, and technologically advanced high-voltage cables, for land and offshore applications worldwide. NKT has a unique experience with of developing and delivering dynamic high voltage cables and we are currently seeing a growing interest in our dynamic cable solutions. The partial motivation for this strategy is the aim to cut down on CO2 emissions by supplying electrical power from land to offshore oil and gas platforms. Additionally, development activities around floating wind are rapidly increasing – creating many exciting opportunities for NKT’s dynamic cable technology. 

As a Senior Engineer – Installation Analysis, you will be involved in a comprehensive assessment of cable behavior under various conditions, such as extreme weather, potential interference, and long-term fatigue. This assessment will include local cross-sectional analysis to understand the specific stress points and ensure the structural integrity of the cables. Your analysis will directly support business operations by providing valuable insights into offshore cable installation, on-bottom stability, and free-span behavior, considering factors like vortex-induced vibrations (VIV). Ultimately, your goal is to ensure the feasibility and security of operations by guiding operational procedures and identifying optimal weather conditions and load capacities to mitigate risks and enhance performance.

Besides the above you will also be working with

  • The responsibilities outlined include providing the full scope of analysis for projects, which involves gathering and processing data, creating models, conducting analyses, and documenting the findings. The reports generated from these analyses are intended for a diverse audience, including both external and internal stakeholders, third-party inspectors, and Marine Warranty Surveyors (MWS).
  • Additionally, there is a focus on conducting studies and research to enhance analysis methods and developing Python-based software tools that can interact with OrcaFlex, a leading software in the field of marine and offshore engineering.

A forward-thinking engineer with a keen interest in contributing to major green transition initiatives

The position requires someone who can deliver detailed and methodical analysis while contributing constructively to collective projects and initiatives. You see possibilities, take initiative in finding solutions and are eager to learn.

Additionally, your CV includes:

  • Master degree in Ocean Engineering or similar
  • Applicants should have at least four years of offshore engineering experience, particularly in the areas of installation or in-place analysis of versatile products
  • Good OrcaFlex skills and experience from working in accordance with offshore standards from DNVGL
  • Working experience of cross-section analysis tools such as Helica or Uflex is advantageous
  • Competence in English language communication, including the ability to write and speak clearly, is essential.

Thomas is an operator in production and pulls out 8 mm copper for wires that are wrapped around the cables. He enjoys the working hours where he can work long and concentrated and then have a longer period of time off.  He wants to make his own small mark on the green future.
