Key role in the innovation and development of leading high and medium voltage products

As the demand for advanced investigations in fluid dynamics and Multiphysics applications is growing, we are now looking for a CFD/Multiphysics Simulation Engineer to join the Applied Mechanics Department. The department's core skill set covers applied mechanics, mechanical testing, advanced modeling and simulation, such as computational fluid dynamics, finite element analysis and Multiphysics simulations.

The department portfolio covers a wide range of high and medium voltage advanced products with emphasis on high-voltage cables, supporting the global community in the quest for a green energy transformation

As an R&D simulation engineer you will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment with a keen interest in innovation. You will provide technical support to NKT and to other industries worldwide in overcoming complex mechanical challenges interlinked with all sorts of physics across different products and in all stages of the product development cycle.

Your main tasks will be to:

  • Perform CFD, Multiphysics, electromagnetic and thermal simulation for different advanced product applications to solve complex problems that arise in various areas of fluid mechanics and electromagnetism for medium and high voltage application
  • Present simulation results and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including colleagues, management, and external customers.
  • Prepare written reports, summaries, and presentations
  • Understand our internal and external customer needs as well as their business drivers and implement creative solutions that requires highly advanced computational models and complex simulation analyses
  • Manage and conduct various types of consulting and R&D projects end-to-end, from initial client discussion to execution and reporting. You will contribute with your modeling and simulation skills to the future development of high-performance high and medium voltage products.

Systematic and results-driven with effective verbal and written communication

For this position, fluent spoken and written English is required to interact effectively with colleagues and clients from a variety of backgrounds. Experience building and maintaining close customer relations. You enjoy working on your own as much as in multi-disciplinary team. Beyond the formal requirements, you will approach problem in a methodical manner – systematically identifying our customers’ needs – and creatively finding potential solutions.

Apart from this you do also have:

  • Technical Ph.D. or a M.Sc. with two years of industrial experience
  • Knowledge of CFD, electromagnetism and numerical modeling with solid programming and scripting skills
  • Advanced proficiency and significant experience with commercial software, i.e. FLUENT, COMSOL
  • Full professional proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to audiences with varying technical backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of machinery cooling/forced convection, free convection, multiphase simulations, non-Newtonian fluids/extrusion flows, high voltage electric fields, Multiphysics simulations, electromagnetic applications.
